First time in the V poker room and it lived up to all the hype. Nice and spacious room. The waiting lounge was nice as well. They have plenty of TVs lined against the walls, but it was rather hard to see a sports score on the screen. My only complaint is that some tables get a large gust of wind everytime the casino doors open/close.
The 1/2NL tables I played were tougher than those I've played at the MGM. Many more loose aggressive players than I'm used to seeing. Lots of straddles. Still had the occassional first-timer at the table, but the majority were locals and/or players who knew what they were doing. I played with one guy in the afternoon on 1/2NL and later saw him on the 5/10NL table later that night.
As a sidenote, our table witnessed a guy propose to his girlfriend during a hand. At midnight, he slipped a ringbox on the table and asked her. We all thought it was a joke, but it was for real. She said yes, and they just kept on playing for another hour or so.
Dealers were good and fast, but in 18 hours of play I did see 2 misdeals and 2 exposed flops before pre-flop action had completed.
Cocktails were hit and miss. One of the nights that I played, cocktail waitresses were impossible to find for an hour or two. The other night they were at the table every 10-15 minutes.
The first night I attempted to get food service at the table (around 6pm), but food server was nowhere to be found. I sat through 4 dealers and not once could anyone find a food server. I asked the floor as well, but all I got was a promise that the server would be sent over as soon as he was back in the room. I never did that server. I ended up calling in my order at Grand Lux and picking it up myself after I was done with my session.
From what I could tell, the management was good. The electronic lists were nice, but you couldn't really see them from the tables.
The time I was there they weren't sponsoring any jackpots, but I did manage to score the $169/night poker rate for my hotel room. It wasn't a lot cheaper than the internet rate I had booked, but any saved money is good money.
