It "felt" right from the moment I walked into the casino, let alone the poker room. Kind of old and dingy, but I felt very at home. You could feel all the historic poker that was played in that room.
At the 2/4 table I was at, mostly older what I would assume to be locals. There were 2 young guys that were absolutely smashed and kept throwing chips in the center, made for a good day.
Older and crusty. One lady saw how drunk the two young guys were and would yell out "Cocktails on 5" about every 10 minutes for them. I was fine with that. As one of them busted out and then found no more cash in his wallet he commented that he would be back when he could find an ATM that accepted Canadian cards, the dealer at the time directed him straight to the cashier's cage. I should have tipped him for that. There was one who whined that he didn't get pushed out yet and both the floor and the next dealer told him it would help if he set his watch to match the casino's time. :)
Seemed fine to me. I just drank beer and water though. If I cared about how attractive the waitresses were I would have taken $45 and gone to see Fantasy at the Luxor, I was there to play poker.
Friendly and crusty too! They were good at trying to manage the drunk guys, kept them reined in enough so they didn't have to ask them to leave, yet they were still having fun, and they kept putting chips in the pot.
Didn't ask.
