It feels like a breakup. I wanted to make it work with her but it wasn't meant to be.
Yes, there are those that have been crushing for 6 months, maybe even a year, and I take my hat off to them.
It's low stakes, so let's not pretend that edges are that great. And in cases that they are, be grateful. Finding yourself at a good table, and in advantageous spots over, and over again is out of our control. Opportunity doesn't always show up with the cards, flops etc.
When the run good slows down, and the heater turns frigid, you'll realize (hopefully before you lose all your winnings) that you can not beat the game at Encore.
That's right, 1/3 players, and 2/5 as well, the game at Encore is Unbeatable.
It's a fact.
Phil Ivey could not beat the game at Encore at 1/3 or 2/5. It's mathematically impossible long term with the $10 rake, and promo drops.
It really hurts for me, but it's goodbye.
At the toughest tables, I was the 4th or 5th best player, and at the weakest, number 1, or 2.
I had my big runs, and downswings, but it's in the middle where we need to consistently turn that profit, and the rake just takes that away from everyone of us.
You go heads up with $35 in the pot preflop, $15 coming from you, and the house is taking $4. So the house is taking 20% of your profit ($20) on every small pot that you're in. Now add a $1 tip to that and it's closer to 25%.
The game is Unbeatable, point, blank, period.
"Bon Voyage!"
