I've been there half a dozen times now, and the lack of any game between $3/6 - which is nearly impossible to beat with the rake and tokes, and $6/12 - which almost never gets off the ground, leaves limit hold 'em players VERY frustrated and heading back to Foxwoods, which spreads far more versions of limit games and ALSO has liberal high-hand rewards, which are currently non-existent at Encore. Even MGM Springfield, which relies on $3/6, has liberal add-ons to the pots like "Splash the Pot" to keep players in the game.
It's a mystery to me - and I've talked to them about it several times - why Encore is so adamant in refusing to spread a $4/8 or $5/10 limit game. Players at the $3/6 table are CONSTANTLY asking for it, it will actually make more money for Encore as more pots will hit max rake, and players will have a chance to actually go home a winner.
At the $3/6 table, too many nights, I look around after 2-3 hours and realize almost everyone at the table is losing and only the casino is winning - why do that to potentially loyal customers?
I'm seriously thinking of ditching Encore and just waiting for promotions at Foxwoods and MGM. I'll go less, as it's further away, but at least I'll have a far better chance of NOT having a day where I win about $40-50, but end up a net loser after giving back all of it and more in rakes on $3/6.
When you have to win $50 in low-limit just to break even, you REALLY need a game with bigger stakes and the bigger pots they generate.
