A Nice Smokeless Room

I really enjoyed the room. Being a non-smoker, the biggest factor was that it was completed sealed off from the rest of the casino, making it one of the few smoke free rooms in Vegas, joining Caesar’s Palace at the top. There were plenty of televisions on the wall, which was great since it the NCAA tourney was going on. The room is made up of glass/windows, which made for an interesting sight. When I was sitting at one of the outer tables, there were at least a dozen spectators on the other side of the glass “watching us”. Later I realized that since the sportsbook across the hall was totally packed, they were watching the games through the windows. How funny. Some of the tables have automatic shufflers and cup holders and are very sturdy, while others are the cheap little tables that were at the Rio for the World Series.

While I didn’t fair well in the hours I played there, the games were soft, just couldn’t get anything going. One night, two drunk friends had about 2000 between them at the 1/2 NL and were calling all ins with hands as weak as KJo and any ace. I just never picked up the hands to take their money.

I didn’t pay too close attention, but I wasn’t very impressed. Maybe because at the 1/2 NL table with the drunk people, it seemed we were seeing about 10 hands an hour, and that was partly the dealers fault for not keeping it running. Another dealer couldn’t stop laughing at unfunny things said by a drunk kid. And even another younger girl who was semi decent looking couldn’t stop flirting with one of the drunk guys. Not my best experience with dealers.

Definitely not lookers, but came often enough to keep you filled if you were drinking. I don’t think I did any drinking here, but did have a red bull in a can, and a few bottles of water. Nothing much to report.

I didn’t have any outstanding contact with management, but two of my friends who played here more often than I did on the trip (I played more at Caesar’s) said that after two sessions they knew them by first name, which is a plus.

Have a high hand jackpot for quads and above. The jackpots didn’t seem as big as the Monte Carlo, but saw two paid off. One for quad kings one of the drunk guys got, and other for a straight flush that the guy didn’t even know he had. One guy turned up a king or queen high flush, and he luckily turned over his 10-7 flush and said nice hand, and was giving up the pot until it was pointed out he had a straight flush!
