Mirage Remodel Review

Mirage room looks great since the remodel. The only reasons I don't give it a 5 is b/c of the low celing (compared to other rooms) and the new chairs are bigger than the old ones and they seem to have extras all around the room making it look more crowded than it is. My big complaint about the new room is the new chairs. They are not as comfortable as the old ones. The new ones are not deep enough for my big butt, and they do not rock back a la the Bellagio. Considering the amount of sitting poker players do, the chairs should be better than this. Though I have to say that I heard no one else complain of this (though I wasn't complaining out loud to anyone while I was there.)

There should really be a "it depends" option for this rating. Most players are experienced, but some of them aren't very good. Others are very good and will wait for the right opportunity. I played 10-20 limit and 1-2 no limit. Better players certainly in the limit game.

Never saw a mistake, misdeal, misread, impolite behavior, or any other negative behavior by the dealers. They were great. Fills and change were made quickly and efficently which is helped by good floor people and runners.

For the life of me, I can't understand why the Mirage doesn't do a better job at this. Mainly it's not having enough waitresses assigned to poker room, b/c the ones that are are pleasant and as quick as they can be. But you still had to wait 30 min b/t opportunities to order. Now that the Mirage has an auto shuffler in every table, there is not excuse to not have more waitresses to serve the demand necessitated by the increased numbers of players in the poker room.

My experience has been that that Mirage is the best managed room in Las Vegas, though I have not played everywhere (ie, Caesars). Never saw a line to get to a floor person. Must-move and new games were handled well. Disputes were handled promptly and appropriately.

Have to give them a 2 here just b/c there are no bad-beat or high-hand jackpots (which is fine with me). My understanding is that the poker room-rate is $99 weekdays, and $119 weekends for 5 hours of play per day during the stay. Room has to be reserved thought the poker room. The Mirage doesn't need jackpots or comp dollars b/c they get enough traffic without them and they do everything else so well.
