Exactly As Expected

I am a new wave of poker player, so I liked the room. All I am looking for in a room is plenty of poker, not being too close to other tables, and no smoke. This room meets all those requirements, especially the no smoke. While almost all rooms are now non smoking, very few accomplish very clean air, because most you can take two steps outside the rail and smoke there. But when there is a long hallway separating it from the casino, it makes it very nice. As we all know, it is a very new room, and was very clean and was an enjoyable place to play. Only downside is it didn’t really have any outstanding characteristic that makes it memorable, but maybe with time.

I played 1/2 NL and a few minutes of 3/6, and had no problem making money. The competition isn’t dumb and blind like at other places, but it isn’t difficult, at least at the stated limits. Beatable to me.

No complaints about the dealers, but did get in an issue with one dealer, but that is more of the floor, and will be listed below.

Not the quickest of servers, but it is a large room with many tables when packed in the evening. At other, smaller places, I get asked many times between drinks before I needed one. Here, I needed a drink and started looking out for them well before they returned. Below average in speed.

Had no problem getting a seat or finding a game while there, but one issue came up that I don’t know if it is the norm or not. I was a few drinks deep, and got in a big pot with someone. At least 30 red chips were in the center, we were at the turn and my opponent bet out something like 80-100. I asked the dealer how much was in the pot (if I was sober, I would have known within 10 dollars). The dealer refused, and so I started counting. But this upset someone to my right who wasn’t in the hand, and he called the floor over, to figure out why. Ruling was that what is in the pot is up to me to know, and they can only tell me the current bet on the table. I really had no problem with this, but it seemed a little strange, and obviously slowed the game down.

Supposedly they comp a dollar an hour that you can only spend on poker room food, which was very very expensive. Someone next to me ordered spinach dip, and asked for sour cream and salsa, and it was a 30 minute wait until he received those. Also, food service is very slow, mainly because they are getting it from somewhere across the casino. Not worth it.
