The MGM Grand Poker Room is swank. It's a classy, ultra modern poker room that's very open with superb lighting. There's a lot of room to spread out and you don't feel crowded or pinned in at the table. The chairs are large and comfortable and the tables are high quality. There's an electronic wait list that prominently displays names on the wall so you don't have to wonder how long the wait is. Plus, on both evenings they seated me at a 2-4 until an opening at a 3-6 became available. As soon as an opening was available, the manager personally came over to notify me and escorted me to a 3-6 table.
I played 2-4 and 3-6 Hold Em on two consecutive nights. I more than doubled my money on both occasions. The first night I played, I sat at a table with a bunch of young guys and it was the loosest game I've ever played. Half the guys were in every hand. The second night the competition was a little stiffer due to the fact that many of the competitors of the 2005 WSOP had descended upon Vegas. Even with a couple of tournament players at every table, there were still enough young tourists to ensure large pots for those who played wisely.
All of the dealers were extremely friendly and solicitous. No mistakes were made and they seemed very laid back and glad to be at work.
The cocktail waitresses were attentive and for a room of its size managed to deliver drinks faster than you would expect.
I can't say enough good things about the management here. I can only use superlatives to describe the efficiency, friendliness and customer service attitude of the management. I've played at The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Aladdin and Bellagio. The MGM Grand surpassed all the others. I give big kudos to Norm. He remembered my name from the previous evening. He greeted me by name, answered all of my questions and personally escorted me to my table. When I requested to be moved to another table, he was on top of it and expedited my request with amazing speed. I was simply amazed how efficient the room was run especially on the second evening I played when the room was packed with all of the tournament players.
Unlike Mandalay Bay and Aladdin, there are no jackpots here. I've received food vouchers at The Mirage but I didn't inquire about food vouchers at MGM.
