Phenominal serpentine room/area off the main casino floor right by the Studio 54 night club. There probably isn't a better location on the strip to see or be seen. Everything is new and fully automated. The tables and chairs are great. The chip runners will get your marks while you seat yourself. On Sunday morning, they were spreading 2/4 up to 6/12 Limit with a SB/BB structure as well as several different NL flavors. All in all, the best place I played during my visit to Vegas.
Fresh fish at the 2/4!! My table had no locals and 3-4 VERY drunk hotshots at 10:00AM Sunday morning. There were a few good players, but after 30 minutes I had a perfect read of the table. Unfortunately, I could not get any cards! In 3 hours of play, I only saw 4 showdowns - winning 2 and losing 2. The losers cost me $16-$18, but both winners paid over $50 each. In one hand, I had AQ off with the Ah. The betting capped BEFORE I could act, so I cold called the re-reraise. The flop brought J9H, and a Q, so top pair, top kicker and a gutshot straight and nut flush draw. The bet caps again before I can act!! So, I'm in and completely camouflaged and loving my hand. The turn brought the 7h, so I’m now one off the nut flush, still with top pair. This time, I raise the first bet, get reraised by one of the drunks, and thankfully everyone else folds. Why thankfully? Read on! The river is the beautiful 4h giving me the nuts with an Ah flush. The drunk bets, I raise, he re-raises, I re-raise, he re-raises, I re-raise . . . . at one point I pick up $50 in red chips and continue to toss 2 into the pot every time I speak. I kid you not, he re-raised me 7 times until he only called. So, $64 in the pot on the river plus the 2 capped rounds put over $150 in the pot for my A high flush. He leaned forward, looked at my cards and the board (for the first time, I think), and said “Oh, a flush” and mucked! I put him on a set, but will never know. Unfortunately, the last hour only brought J6 off, 10 2 off, etc. Had I drawn any cards, I’d probably still be sitting there!
The dealer was OK skill-wise, but they had a bit of an attitude, esp. towards the drunks. While they were pretty obnoxious, they put over $300 on the table in an hour! The rest of us did not want them run off and politely asked the dealer to drop it. He was very sullen and still wanted to call the floor boss until we told him not to. Don't scare away the fish!
Drinks came quickly and the ladies were tastefully dressed and better than average to look at. Believe me, the lookers are in the Club 54 line at night!
Here is the only real downside to the room. I put my name on the 2/4 list, got called up and sent to a table. The dealer said "I'm full" pretty rudely and sent me away. I went back to the check-in and they had already seated the next guy! While I was put back at the top of the list, the system is full of bugs to send me to a full table. The floor boss should have intercomm'ed the dealer to ensure there was a seat. Luckily, I ended up sitting at the best table when I eventually was seated.
I honestly don't know what comps they have because it took them more than 3 hours to get me a card. I filled out the sheet when I arrived, but I had cashed in my chips and was walking out when I was called to the desk to get my card. And, no, they did not put any time on it.
All in all, this room will rock in 3-4 more months when they get their act together.
