Up Close and Personal

It would be modest to even call this a poker room. Essentially, it looks like they tore out a few rows of slot machines and stuffed a few tables in there instead. In their 6pm $55 buy-in tournament, they sat 10 of us at a stud table, so we were literally touching shoulder to shoulder--talk about up close and personal. Not only that, but you can expect to be sitting right next to someone playing on a slot machine as there is just a rope sectioning the tables off from the slot machines.

It appeared about average. A few locals who knew the dealers and manager. Other than that, it appeared to be either hotel guests or vacationers. It was tough for me to gauge as I've never been dealt worse cards in my life--my highest hand the entire tournament was a pair of deuces (out of 20 hands or so) before I was blinded away.

Dealers seemed friendly and not overbearing when someone breached a rule--just politely explained the correct procedure.

Outside of a real old woman who came around once ever 45 minutes yelling "cocktails" in the middle of the room, there were no drinks to speak of--I had a cup of water out of the tank in the corner for dealers.

The managers seemed to do the best they could with what they were given to work with. They answered any question I might have had.

Never asked about comps since I was out of there in a jiffy and never intended to return.
