I was sort of underwhelmed by the ambiance of the room. The room felt more like a place where people just happened to play poker. But then again having just played at Caesar's a couple of days ago, well maybe my expectations were kind of high. Few tourists and mostly locals here, so it definitely had a local casino feel. Living in California, Orleans reminded me of playing in a California Indian casino... why would I go all the way to Vegas to have the same experience? It's not horrible, but not all that great either.
Man I don't know what all the fuss is about regarding player quality at Orleans. Maybe it depends on personal experience, but I played 4/8 limit hold'em and I was not at all impressed. My table had the typical mix of a couple of decent locals as well as other regulars who play too many hands or are calling stations... one time some guy limped in with AK in early position folded around to my J5 in BB... I bluffed at the flop and he showed and folded! I think you get the idea... it's worth a look if your game is decent and looking to make money at low limits.
Dealers were okay. Nothing special.
I only ordered one drink, and I wasn't looking to get drunk so I can't comment either way too much. The waitresses were in pretty neat outfits though.
They didn't have a big screen listing all the games that were spread. For a local that might not be a big deal, but for me that is kind of a problem. Management was pleasant enough, as they gave me a list of all the games they had, and got me in a game fairly quickly.
No comment - I didn't ask so I don't know. Apparently they do have a high hand/bad beat bonus, but I didn't inquire about it and I overheard it from another conversation.
